Don't hold your breath

http://www.timesofmalta.com/articles/view/20120208/local/franco-debono-reacts-to-times-debate-crisis-will-be-solved-when.405881

According to Franco Debono ( click on above link) the crisis will be solved when the oligarchy within the government goes.    This is not dissimilar to saying that Bashar Assad could regain total and peaceful control of Syria if he converts to true democracy.

So don't hold your breath.   Normally political catharsis only comes through election defeats and the PN have not had one long enough since 1976.   Evidently they mean to keep it going for as long as it takes.

Proof needed?   PN have been talking about bringing order to political party financing for some two decades.  Oligarchies depend on the present law of the jungle which has given the PN great electoral advantages.  Going beyond lip service is not in the PN's interest.

Franco Debono's proposals in this respect still has too many loopholes as illegal donations can still be dressed up as business contracts through the commercial subsidiaries of the political parties.   So this is all a farce where the more things change the more they stay the same.

  1. i am certainly not holding my breadth. The Pn knows they will be thrashed at next elections whenever they come and like KMB in 1987 they will try to stay on for as long as possible.
